Hiatus…

Hi,
As you can see The Anxious Pixie had bit of a hiatus. Things over the list two years have been a bit wobbly. The appearance of COVID-19 and Brexit have heavily affected life in the UK. There have been a lot of challenges to contend with.

My biggest one was the passing of my Nan. She was my rock and one of the cornerstones of my family, I’m not afraid to admit that since we lost her I have been in a state of grief, shock and pain. Quite moments have been consumed by feelings of loss, there has been some despair, a lot of anxiety and for a while, I did slip back into depression. I’m better now than I was, there is still progress to be made, I will get there.

My work was heavily affected by COVID-19. Unfortunately, the colleague I work with went into shielding, then caught COVID when they returned, and then they were signed off with long COVID until recently. So, for the last two years, I have mostly worked alone on a two-person shift with the odd person filling in here and there to keep me company and I filled in lots of vacant shifts.

Last year, my body decided it had had enough. I have been off for 6 of the last 12 months as I have suffered uncontrollable bleeding. I had a hysterectomy in May as I bled every day since the beginning of August 2021. I’m okay with it. It’s what I asked for. I’m not planning on having any more children as two of my three children were very high-risk pregnancies and I doubt I’d survive another. This period of illness made me feel very low and now I am recovering I’m starting to feel like myself again. I have a new lease of life, despite not being able to drive currently! My operation was very successful and the healing is going well.

There have been many changes in the Anxious Pixie world and we’ve had to find a new normal for our family. This includes, the hubbly permanently working from home and no longer wanting to work in an office. Bashy had a complete nervous breakdown and is being home educated (post to follow!), Mooey finally has a diagnosis of ASD and ADHD, his epilepsy is behaving and we’re weaning off his meds. However, he is being horribly bullied at school. We are trying very hard to support him and resolve this. Then there’s little Bee who is just ticking along and rolling with the punches! He’s fabulous, as always.

I have a few posts in the pipeline and hopefully I can get one out soon.

Bye for now, love,

The Anxious Pixie
